Organic Skin Care – Making The Right Choice
Everyone’s talking about organic skin care. But, what exactly does this mean? Does it mean using products prepared purely from plants or animal extracts or does it mean more than this?
To understand organic skin care better, you must have an idea of what organic farming is.
Organic Farming
This is the type of farming in which the farmers use the least (almost negligible) amount of pesticides to grow crops and plants. This is actually a rewind of the ancient times when people used to cultivate crops without using any chemicals to kill the pests. This was the time when pesticides were not invented and farmers used to cry over the damage done by pests and diseases to their crops.
Well, the scenario is much the same in terms of crying. The only change is that now we are crying due to the harmful effects of pesticides!
Certified organic doesn’t mean that there are zero pesticides. But, these are well below the harmful levels. Farmers perform certain practices, such as crop rotation, growing cover crops, composting, and others that help to stock up the soil nutrients. Plants grown in such soil are more resistant to pests and diseases and get enough nutrients. They need no additional fertilizers.
Choosing Organic Skin Care Products
After catching a glimpse of organic farming, you must know how to choose the right product for yourself. Remember, not all products that claim to be organic are so. There’s also a difference between a natural product and an organic one.
It’s not necessary that all natural skin care products are organic. There is no guarantee that the plants used to prepare such products are devoid of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. But, when we talk of organic products, these are always natural. And they are prepared from plants with little or nil amounts of pesticides or fertilizers.
Moreover, organic products need to meet certain standards, which are quite strict. You must be cautious about the strange names in the market shelves claiming to provide organic skin care items. Use products from popular brand names only. One of them is miessence. This company has a wide range of organic products.
So, if you’re thinking of switching over to natural skin care regime, why not try organic skin care?
